Camping in France

Camping can be a great and inexpensive way to explore France.

Campgrounds are abundant in France, and each campground is issued a star rating from the French government so you can be sure of what you are getting. Peak season for camping in France is July through August and prices will be most expensive then, however this is also when campgrounds will offer the most amenities. If you have a set itinerary you will want to make reservations during peak season, but if you are feeling more adventurous you can see where the day takes you.

If you want to camp in France, you'll most likely need to rent a car, especially if you plan on visiting more remote areas of the country or plan to take many day trips. It is also possible to rent a camper van which will afford you both transportation and a place to sleep; this is a great choice if you'd to avoid flying with all of your camping equipment.
